#theYESandLife

There is no right, there is no wrong. What if you could have everything you wanted and step outside of fear—standing in the yes of life?

Try this on for size: pick one day this week, and every time someone invites you to do something, say yes. This experiment involves stepping out of your ego, your pessimistic state of mind, and immersing yourself in the experience with curiosity.

What’s the worst that could happen? You end up at an unplanned lunch. At that lunch, you might meet someone in line with one of the biggest business deals of your career. Or you get a free lunch. Or you learn something new about a co-worker, improving your work relationship and communication.

Humans get caught up in their reasons and live out of habit. You’ve identified yourself as someone and customized your entire world to fit that painted picture. You’re a mom, so you tell yourself you can’t travel or go to the gym. You’re “Type A,” so you believe you can’t do something spontaneous. You’re disorganized, so you tell yourself it’s okay to be late to meetings.

But there’s an entirely different option out there—and it all starts by saying yes.

Say “yes and…”
Fill in the blank.

  • Yes, I’ll go to lunch, and will you drive?

  • Yes, I’ll go on the snowboarding trip, and I’ll keep my job.

  • Yes, I’ll be a mom and a badass.

  • Yes, I’ll be an engineer and a personal trainer.

Drop the either/or you’ve decided your life has to be, and start living the life you always dreamed of.

Start with one simple yes this week.

  • Register for that program.

  • Have a fantastic marriage and be in an open relationship.

  • Book the flight.

  • Finish the book.

  • Hit a PR in the gym.

  • Have the hard conversation with your lover.

Whatever is holding you back, I challenge you to get to the other side of your reasons and start customizing your life.

Register for the program you’ve always dreamt of—even if you don’t know where the money will come from or where you’ll stay. The point is to start somewhere. By registering, you’re saying yes! Then, all the other situations and hows will fall into place. You’re telling the universe a direction, and the hows will start to show up. Give in to the what that drives you, and the hows, paths, and money will align.

Have you always wanted to travel to another state but felt too scared, unsure what would happen, or didn’t have anyone to go with? This is your opportunity to do some research and get on the other side of your reasons. Start with the what, say yes, and book the flight. Your excitement will fuel conversations, and a random friend might become your co-traveler. Someone might tell you about a great deal on a rental car, and another person might recommend an amazing adventure once you get there.

Build #theYESandLife of your dreams.
